1.Booking Confirmation & Payment
To secure your booking, a deposit of 20% of the total tour cost is required. Once we receive your deposit, Silk Road Tours International will proceed with arranging all your reservations.
The balance may be paid at any time before your tour starts, or in cash upon your arrival at your first destination.
2.Payment Methods
For your convenience, we accept the following payment methods:
- WeChat Pay;
- Alipay;
- Bank transfer (to our company’s official bank account);
- PayPal — please note that a 4% service fee applies to transactions made via PayPal.
3.Cancellation Policy
- More than 30 days before departure: 70% refund of the deposit (full refund shall be granted for cancellations caused by force majeure);
- 15–30 days before departure: 50% refund of the deposit;
- 7–14 days before departure: 20% refund of the deposit;
- Less than 7 days before departure: no refund of the deposit.
4.Tour itinerary
If we are unable to continue the tour, or must change or cancel the itinerary, we will discuss the situation with you and make the best alternative arrangements.
Before your tour starts, we will inform you and agree how to adjust the itinerary. If you choose to cancel for this reason, we refund the full amount of your tour, except penalties for flights, trains and hotels.
During the tour, we will discuss replacements directly with you. We do not compensate or refund, but we always do our best to limit any loss or inconvenience.
5.Health requirements
As an international traveller, please familiarise yourself with the travel risks and health requirements of your destinations. For the mountain areas of Xinjiang in particular, consult your doctor to confirm you are fit to travel at altitude.
6.Insurance
Our packages include China travel-agency liability insurance. This does not cover your own travel insurance. We strongly recommend buying full-coverage travel insurance — including cancellation / interruption cover — from your home country before departure.
7.Flight and train ticket booking
We are happy to book your flights and trains when you book a tour with us; please provide your passport copies in advance. Train seats are limited, so we recommend booking at least two months ahead — and even earlier for China’s National Day holiday (1–7 October), the summer-vacation peaks (late June / early July, and late August / early September) and other public holidays.
8.Visa and permit support
Chinese embassies may require a Letter of Invitation from a local travel agency for your Chinese visa. When you book with us, we provide this letter and any other necessary documents, including visa application instructions.
With a valid Chinese visa you need no extra permit to visit Xinjiang. However, destinations such as the Karakoram Highway, Bayinbuluke Grassland or the Torugart Pass require special permits, which we prepare once your tour is confirmed.
9.Other remarks
Silk Road Tours is not responsible for any loss, injury or damage to clients, including those occurring outside our normal service programmes.
